I'm a software engineer at Amazon by day and a self-proclaimed real estate investor by night. I go by InvestLikeMike on social media (IG, TT, YT) Feb 2019 - I started with 1 rental arbitrage in San Jose and 1 rental arbitrage in San Francisco. COVID hit and lost some money. I still strongly believed in short term rental potential. Oct 2020 - Bought a home in Joshua Tree CA in Oct 2020. Did a full rehab myself, ran it for a year with great profits, and sold the home using a 1031 exchange. Oct 2021 - Did 1031 with the Joshua Tree home (which more than doubled in one year - thanks COVID!) and bought a SFH in Livermore CA with the equity. Sept 2022 - Bought a SFH in the Bay Area with 20% down, and will LTR it out. It will negatively cash flow significantly, but I'll take my tax savings of over 100k and re-invest that into cash-flowing properties.
