A chance encounter in a foreign land led me to an unexpected, but very-much welcomed next chapter upon retirement from the United States Air Force. While deployed to the Middle East, I met “Will” – an experienced multifamily investor. Within days of learning Will’s story, I found “Rich Dad Poor Dad” and as they say, the rest… Within a few months of reading the classic and while still deployed, my wife Stephanie and I, closed on our first 13 units. Over the past several years, through organic growth and equity partnerships with close friends and family, we grew our portfolio to nearly 70 units—consisting of small multifamily properties. Throughout the journey, I experienced many aspects (i.e. the rollercoaster) of residential real estate investing—serving as the GM of a property management company, project management, building contractor, duplex lost to fire, and many other “unofficial” titles and duties. These experiences served me well in learning the business while inspiring for continued growth. Recently, I partnered with another professional to create Midwest Multifamily Investments LLC—centered on value-add multifamily opportunities in the upper Midwest. We are eager to collaborate with like-minded investors that also maintain a strong moral compass on doing the right thing, even when no one is looking. Specifically, we are looking to connect with “boots-on-the-ground” in Wisconsin, Missouri and Iowa.
