I think I was 10 when I started in the real estate business? Seriously, my dad was an investor but hated manual labor which worked out for him since he had 4 boys. When my older brothers were 15 and 16 our dad would let us take the old baby blue F100 we kept out back to cut lawns, clean up trash, demo, paint, dump runs, you name it we did it. My dad also owned a Title and Mortgage Company so when he would buy a new property we had to go and sit at the closing table to see how it was done and yes he would make us dress up. We grew up in Broward County, FL during the 80's and South Florida was growing rapidly at that time. Over the years we probably renovated over 100 properties most of the single family properties we would flip but we maintain a decent portfolio of multi-family properties. I am always looking for the next deal and we always discuss as a family before pulling the trigger. We have grown wiser over the years and never chase a deal if we don't absolutely love it. We also don't go outside our comfort zones and stick to the areas we know. Like my dad my goal is to provide quality living environments for our tenants, make a little money, and leave a little something to my kids to hopefully build on.
