Mark Scarola

Mark Scarola has a Master of Science in Real Estate degree from the University of San Diego, where he graduated at the top of his class. Mark is currently looking to secure a full-time position. Although flexible regarding possible positions, his strongest interests are in workforce (or missing middle) housing, development, syndications and funds, asset management, and investor relations. With a background in social services and a Master of Social Work degree, he is particularly well suited for organizations with an active social agenda or philanthropic component. Mark is a creative and naturally organized individual, a natural problem solver, and adept at mediating conflict. He acts as the bridge between left brain and right brain individuals, has strong communication and presentation skills, and values relationships. Most recently, Mark interned with The Middlemarch Fund, which raises capital to develop long-term workforce and middle income housing in Southern California. Here, he studied the local Regional Housing Needs Assessment report, conducted market research, provided organizational support, and synthesized data. Mark currently has a temporary position with a nonprofit affordable housing developer, where he has been researching government subsidies, grants, loans, and legislation aimed at affordable housing providers and low-income residents. He is actively working on a project that would bring additional, affordable, single-family residence options to market. He also recently worked at a real estate development company where he helped raise $1.2 million, established two private placement syndications, and met with elected officials to promote job creation and development plans. He was also responsible for preparing marketing materials for prospective investors, onboarding new investors, writing monthly progress reports, and presenting at nationwide conferences.
