I’ve come to think of myself as a WILDFIRE.... I’m usually on the wild side of everything..... full of wild ideas, wild adventures, wild results & fueled with a relentless FIRE for F.I.R.E. I started with house-hacking before I knew that was a ‘strategy’. I built a brand new home in 2010 and immediately rented out my two spare rooms for $400 each plus 1/3 of the utilities. The mortgage on the home was $650 per month. This home took a $500 deposit to have it built & I was offered a sweat equity opportuinity to pay for the downpayment. At closing I got my closing cost, downpayment and deposit paid for and received a $500 check along with my keys. When I moved out we bought another home, we rented this home for $1200 per month. I was hooked on rental property. We got an opportunity to move to California & decided to rent our 2nd home as well. We rented it for $1100 per month with a $700 mortgage. This home qualified for a grant for home owners since it was in an opportunity zone & a not so nice area of town. We paid $1200 to close on it and after 2 years our $4500 grant was forgiven. Currently I own a children’s physical education company and have been working as a wholesaler on the side. Since this time I’ve decided to become more professional in the real estate world. While teaching is my passion, it doesn’t quite provide for retirement like real estate. I’m excited to learn more and look forward to many more real estate deals to come my way. I’m now in a season of saving and wholesaling but soon I’ll be looking for another deal to hold on to or flip. I enjoyed wholesaling a 20 unit apartment complex in 2018 and now have an appetite for commercial as well as residential deals!
