I'm a full time 4th grade teacher that just purchased my first duplex in February 2019 with my husband. We have two boys ages 5 and 7 and I would love nothing more than to build our real estate business full time so I have the freedom to be there for my boys and not miss out on any of their activities. I am an avid Bigger Pockets podcast junkie that listens to them during my free time in school, in the car, and anytime I can sneak in a few minutes. I have also read so many real estate books and my favorite so far is the one on Managing Rental Properties by Brandon and Heather Turner and the BRRRR book by David Greene. Our duplex came with an inherited tenant and the back unit was completely empty. We took that opportunity to rehab it and turn it from a 1 bedroom 1 bath to a 2 bedroom, 1 bath (turned the attic into a loft bedroom). With the front of the property we are in the process of turning the attic into a legal 4th bedroom taking that home from a 3 to a 4 bedroom. Once that is done we plan on refinancing and jumping into our next BRRRR!!
