Bought my first home in 2017 with an interest free loan from my father-in-law. My wife and 2 kids are living in the home as I have been steadily remodeling it. It was a HUD house that we paid $30,000 for and when remodeling is completed, I'm hoping for an appraisal of around $90,000. After remodeling, I will have put around $20,000 into it. We are now looking for the next direction: rent it, sell it, rent then sell, who knows! The possibilities have opened up quite a bit since learning about FI through the BiggerPockets Money podcast, Mr Money Mustache blog and soon to be immersed in the forums! My wife nudged me with the podcast and we are both on determined path to do this!! It's really exciting and I can't wait for it to unfold!
