Experience: I bought my first rental property when I was 26. I managed it myself from over 500 miles away. I decided to sell it after 3 years and made 38k on the sale. The next house I purchased was for me. 2 years after moving in, I had to leave Charlotte and move to Wilmington for my career. I kept the house and turned it into a rental property. It's been rented for 17 straight years with no vacancies! I bought my house in Wilmington and have completely renovated the entire house (the majority of which has been done myself). I enjoy working with my hands and am pretty skilled at carpentry, electrical and light plumbing. Real Estate Goals: I stopped real estate investing when my kids were born (children are expensive!). I was a sales executive at a medical device company for over 10 years. When I got downsized due to COVID, I switched to full time real estate investment. We flip houses but now primarily build custom spec homes. We have long term rentals and short term vacation properties. Finally, we have 3 commercial ground leases. So I have made plenty of mistakes in multiple areas of real estate and have learned from them. Long term, I want to pass my knowledge on to my kids so they can continue investing in real estate and building wealth for our family.
