I was 19 in 1969 and the government wanted bodies for Vietnam. When I went to Jacksonville Florida for my physical and got back to Tallahassee Florida I said, They willl have to draft me because I would not go in under the ugly treatment that was given to us civilians at Jacksonville naval yard. My mother passed when I was 8 years old and when my mother was mentioned in derogatory terms I was highly motivated to smack somebody. Thank the Lord I did not have to go, but I do respect the people who did go. I hired on with the local telephone company "Southeastern telephone company". I stayed about 36 years and enjoyed everyday the different jobs I held. I learned a lot of crafts and got a lot of ideas as the town of Tallahassee turned into a city. I left that work in 2005 when I was 55 and thought I was going to die. The good Lord saw better things for me by causing me to be classified as totally disabled. It got me into a safer life and ever since then I have struggled to stay healthy enough to keep myself moving and piddling. I am at a point in my life where a change is needed for an easier life and a more lucrative life.
