I'm a 26 year old engineer working in the Bay Area. I'm looking to buy my first multi unit property around the Oakland area and "House Hack" (live in 1 property and rent out the others). I'm also interested in buying a single family home to rent out and have looked into areas such as Stockton and Tracy (I'm originally from Stockton and familiar with the city) . For house hacking in Oakland, my #1 priority is to find a property that will have positive cash flow if possible or break even (assuming that a property in the bay are will appreciate well).
