Ramone Reese

I am a real estate investor and Missouri-licensed attorney and counselor at law. I grew up on the Northwest side of Detroit. Never went much further until beginning undergraduate studies at the University of Michigan-Ann Arbor. During undergrad in 2003, I started working for the largest student-housing renter in Ann Arbor. I went from a seasonal leasing agent, to helping manage an $80,000,000 portfolio of multi-family and retail properties in Michigan, North Carolina, and Florida. I personally helped find, underwrite, and facilitate over $40,000,000 in acquisitions of A-class retail property and similarly situated multi-family units. While working at the above company and a full-time student at UM, I founded and opened a clothing store at Fairlane Town Center Mall in Dearborn, Michigan, and began my real estate investment career in 2004. After taking heavy losses in 2006, I returned to Michigan and earned my law degree from Washington University School of Law in St. Louis, MO in 2011. I also received my Master of Laws in Intellectual Property and Technology Law in 2012. I clerked for federal judges, interned for two other federal judges, helped found a charter school, and develop a professional development workshop for inner-city high school students, and worked for one of the largest firms in the midwest (the largest law firm in Missouri) representing Fortune 100, 500, and 1000 companies in commercial litigation. In 2014, I returned to my home town, Detroit, MI, and worked for Michigan's largest and arguably most prestigious law firm continuing to represent large corporate clients. It was also in 2014 that I traded in my suit and tie for a set of power tools and a hard hat, and returned to my first love, real estate. I'm reviving the company I started in 2006, Southeast Michigan Capital Group LLC, where I serve as the President and General Counsel. To "put some skin in the game" and show results before securing major investors, I used my life savings to purchased several single-family homes on the Northwest side of Detroit, where I grew up. So far, my lowest return has been 42% in the first year using rough numbers and not including tax incentives. My highest has been 600% in the first year-all invested back into the business. While securing my Michigan license and tranisitoning my law practice to real estate and a more small business/entreprenurial focus, I am building my company. Our slogan is "Buy. Rent.
