I am looking to purchase my first rental investment property. Ideally I would like to enjoy a level of success that would allow me to retire in 10 years. But first steps first so I'm here to start at the beginning and see how that works. I have 100% equity in my home and am hoping to find the best way to make that work for me in my endeavor. Update: I sold my home. I've bought a foreclosed property for cash and should start renting in about a month. I'm putting the minimum down on a mortgaged home for myself. The rental will pay for itself and my mortgage. Next step is to get another investment property with a mortgage. I can get one for 20% down. It would pay for itself with a little extra. Then onto the next....
