At 25 years old, my partner and I started renting out a spare bedroom in our 2 bedroom apartment on Airbnb which paid our rent every month plus $500/m in cash flow - all to travel in our own home in Tampa, FL. We loved it. This in conjunction with working our 9-5s allowed us to pay off our $50,000 in student debt in a year and a half while "house hacking" via "airbnb arbitrage". We had no clue those two terms existed when we were doing it in 2015. This was the basis of us starting our pursuit of financial and location independence. Over the next few years, we became YouTubers who traveled full-time and shared our adventure @ AbandonComfort.com. We had the location independence piece down but we were still trading the majority of our time for money on YouTube. After years of saving we were finally able to buy a 4 bedroom SFH in the heart of Philadelphia for cash. I've since wholesaled a few deals, have a couple of BRRRRs in process and built an internal renovation team after DIYing our first deal. Our goal is to have $10,000/m in cash flow via rentals and residual YouTube income so we can continue to focus on what matters most to us and stop trading our time for money.
