About myself: I live in Ankeny, Iowa with my wife and two kids and would like to create more income streams. I am good at fixing things and problem-solving. Several years ago, I started buying and selling commercial and industrial machines, tools and equipment. After a while, it seemed like a natural progression to start buying real estate. In 2012, I purchased a duplex intending to continue to acquire more properties. At the same time, I was also helping raise our two kids and it was tough looking for more deals to fix up and rent out along with parenting and working a full-time job. As the kids are getting older and requiring less attention, I am hoping to acquire more properties in the future. I am still getting a feel for it and know that being part of this community will dramatically improve my competency and efficiency. Real estate experience: I own one duplex in Des Moines that I purchased in 2012. I have read/listened to many books on real estate and investing and decided it was time to jump in and get my feet wet. I have run into many issues along the way and have found that most people who own investment real estate have run into similar problems, and knowing the quickest way to get from A to B is good to know. Real estate goals: I would like to purchase more multifamily properties in the future. I am also interested in learning other creative ways of generating more income streams. Currently seeking: To build connections and friendships with like-minded people who have experience and interest in real estate. I am hoping to find both people who are on the same journey as I am and also people who have been doing this for a lot of years and have a wealth of knowledge to share. I have also found that people who purposely own investment properties typically have an entrepreneurial mindset and are interested in less conventional ways of making and growing money.
