I live in Morgantown, WV. I am an engineer by day and aspiring entrepreneur by night. My wife and I both graduated from West Virginia University in 2006. My wife and I have been married 11 years and have a 4 1/2 year old son, who is the joy of our lives, with another little boy on the way. My hobbies include projects around the house, fishing, competitive racquetball, and spending time with family. Family means everything to me! Few fun facts about me: - I was 25 before I flew on my first airplane. Now, at 38, I can't even count how many planes I have been on. - I have traveled to 20 different states. A bucket list item is to see all 50. - Favorite movie is Shawshank Redemption. - I buy my wife a flower arrangement every year for our anniversary. Every year I buy a rose for each year that we have been married. I am going to have to take out a 2nd mortgage on our house or strike it big in real estate to keep that trend up into our 30, 40, and 50 year anniversaries. Ouch! - I bleed blue and gold. In West Virginia we have a saying "God must have been a mountaineer because the sky is blue and the sun is gold" - I love 80s, 90s, and early 2000s country music, but can't stand the new era stuff they refer to as bro country. Disgraceful! - I stand in my house with my hand over my heart while the national anthem is played on TV. God bless the USA and the troops the keep this country great! - I try really hard to always maintain a positive attitude. A good friend of mine, who has muscular dystrophy and is confined to a wheelchair, once said to me "Ryan, if the entire world threw their problems into a pile you would gladly pick yours up and take them home with you." WOW, what a powerful statement! - I have zero social media presence and don't feel like I have missed out on anything in life. Experience: Since joining BiggerPockets my business partner and I have purchased 9 SFHs, 1 triplex, 1 duplex, and 1 43 unit storage facility. We have been busy! I am partially handy around the house but don't mess with furnaces, AC units, breaker panels, or roofs. I can do most other projects. For those interested in learning more I highly recommend YouTube as a source. I am an engineer so I have a strong understanding of numbers. I am a petroleum engineer by trade. I have experience with acquisition and divestures of large assets through my work but have spent the last 9 years on the upstream production side. Real Estate Goals: My wife and I both work. Time at work = less time with our little man. We want to establish passive income that can help her reduce her hours at work so she can spend more time at home. Our goals are to both be retired at 50 and absolutely believe this to be possible with real estate. Currently Seeking: I am most interested in multi unit properties. I like the idea of hedging my risk in regards to vacancy. That said, we have found SFHs to be a much more attractive rental option for tenants in my area. I am also interested in investing in syndicated deals as a silent partner.
