I work in the Fashion industry in NYC and live in NJ. I discovered Bigger Pockets this year. Listening to the podcasts during my commute has given me many insights and knowledge in my quest to build up a Real Estate portfolio that provides cash flow and financial freedom. I had followed the traditional/conventional financial advice most of my life believing it would lead to a comfortable retirement. Read "Set for Life" by Scott Trench (which I won at a NYC Bigger Pockets meetup) and it just clarified all the things I was doing wrong following this conventional advice trying to attain 'The American Dream' and what I could start doing RIGHT NOW. I am preparing to house hack my unused bedrooms to add to my real estate fund.
