Scott Rucker

Scott has been investing in real estate since 2016 and has been a full-time Real Estate Professional since 2019, when he left a 15-year teaching career to fully pursue his passion for real estate. Together with his wife, Temple, they have rapidly grown their real estate portfolio. Their real estate investments include: ● Six mobile home parks across Iowa and Nebraska totaling 448 lots ● General partner on a ground-up development of a 108,000+ square foot self storage facility in Mokena, Illinois ● Three apartment complexes totaling 45 units, including a senior independent living building and a property that caters to low-income housing tenants ● 47,000 square foot shopping center in Sioux City, Iowa ● Two flips - a heavy value-add duplex and acreage ● Passive investor in three real estate funds/syndications investing in self storage and/or mobile home parks Scott received his Bachelor's degree from Cornell College (1997) and Master's degree from University of Nebraska-Omaha (2003). Scott has also been the Head Boys’ Basketball Coach at Treynor High School for the past 15 seasons. He has led the Cardinals to five State Tournaments, four Final Fours, and a State Championship in 2015. Prior to entering the real estate world full-time, Scott taught high school and middle school science classes (Chemistry, Physics, Engineering, etc.) for 15 years. His wife, Dr. Temple Rucker, is a radiologist for Radiologic Consultants Inc., working primarily out of Methodist Hospital in Omaha. Scott and Temple live in Council Bluffs with their two boys - Davin (age 16) and Braylon (age 10), and enjoy spending time with their boys and traveling. Merlyn Properties was named after Scott's late grandfather, Merlyn Rucker, Merlyn was the custodian at the Taylor County courthouse for most of his working life, and also a savvy real estate investor. At one point he owned over 20 rental houses in his hometown of Bedford, Iowa, often renting them on lease options and giving second chances to many who needed it most. Merlyn Properties will strive to uphold its namesake by seeking out opportunities that are both wise, conservative investments and have the ability to revitalize individuals, families, and communities through real estate investing.
