Scotty Grider

I have a degree in Civil Engineering from Rose Hulman. I bought my first bar and first house in 1996, at age 25 and still own both. I bought my next bar in 2001 and sold in 2102. I started investing in stocks in 2003 after the crash and have done extremely well. In 2007 I bought 20 acres Of land. That's when I started to learn about real estate investing. In 2007 the market had dropped precipitously, and I wanted to look for other places for my investment returns. I bought 4 HUD homes from 2007-2010 and still have them as rentals. I also bought a condo in Scottsdale,AZ with my father in 2010. It was an area that my parents had rented from for the previous 7-8 years and the prices had capitulated way too much. I'm looking at trying to focus on RE again as the Sports Pub business requires me to be responsible for far too many employees and patrons. I have plenty of time and drive to get back into RE investing. I spotted good deals on homes that I was able to buy for 70% of the going rate in 2008, my only regret is that I didn't buy more. I looked at them as any equity purchase. Buy and hold. I've become extremely knowledgable about the whole process of property management for single residential properties. I handle every aspect of these homes and complete most of the work myself. I enjoy doing this and life is too short for me to be wasting my intellect. Hopefully I can learn even more and start buying more properties. The housing market has been strong in Indianapolis, so I figured I would get back after it, learning and preparing for my next investment, hoping that the market might pull back over the next 18 months. Look forward in learning and preparing Scotty Grider I'm an engineer not a writer, obviously !
