I currently have a townhouse that is rented out. I didn't purchase it with the intent of renting it but rather ended up with it during the 2008 downturn and decided to rent it rather than realize the loss I would have taken to sell it. I have an interest in real estate and wish to expand into single and multi-family rental properties. I enjoy thinking about real estate and wish to get into it to generate passive income and allow me to potentially leave my day job to pursue other passions (someday). More than anything else, I am looking for the security of real estate income as a hedge against the cyclical business I work in.
