We went under contract in June 2018 and closed July 15th on our first long term rental home in a long distance purchase. Looking to learn about buy and holds, multi-families, we have done several fix and flip with our personal house but didn’t realize it was a strategy. Currently in process of a fixing/flipping our current home. Tired of 401ks and the inability to own something with our own money, so my husband and I took out our former 401k and 403b and combined them into a 401k checkbook account and are buying real estate with it. We love that we don’t have to report this income until that account reaches 250k, at that time we can open another 401k checkbook and actively use that account. We want to apply wise strategies to improve our retirement portfolio and maybe cash flow some of our personal money so we can get debt free faster! We also baought a historic building that we are in the process of setting up to restore to 6 Air BnBs and it came with a duplex that needs flipped to put on Air BnB in a highly desirable area for tourists and overnight rentals.
