I was a professional ballet dancer (and always will be in my heart), but I've hung up my pointe shoes and now I'm also officially a real estate investor! After listening to podcasts and learning (thank you BP) for several years now, I just dove in starting 2019, and now have done several deals: 1. a BRRR in my hometown area in Virginia, which I currently still hold as a rental. 2. found 2 abandoned houses in hometown area, bought them for very low (really bad condition). Sold one to a family who has construction skills and is living there while fixing it up. Sold the other 2 local investors who will renovate and make rental out of it. 3. a househack where I currently live 4. bought one turn-key rental in my hometown, did a rent-to-own, and in 2 years, they bought it! They love it, and now the buyers are some of my "new" best friends! 5. along with the above rental, there was also a small cabin next door that I bought. When I sold the rent-to-own above, I paid off the cabin. So now I own that free and clear, and still rent it out. 6. also kept my previous residence to rent out - edit: now I've sold that one, and used some of the proceeds to buy: 7. my first STR! That's not doing as well as I'd hoped financially, but welcome to the crowd, we're all in the same boat. I'm determined to make it work, and relaly love the hospitality aspect of it. 8. Also bought a burned-out, abandoned house that is a tear-down, currently under contract to sell it to another investor who is working on clearing up the title issues, and he's already doing some quads next door, so hopefully can get rezoned to do the same on my property. 9. As you can see from the above, I've been all over the place trying to discover what I'm best at, and can make the best return on. 5 years later, I think I've figured it out: I'm best at marketing and connecting with people, so now I'm focusing on land acquisitions for large scale developers and builders. I love the nuances and intricacies of land! 10. Also working on getting my RE license! It's been a lot to juggle all at once, but it's great to be in the game!
