I migrated to Houston, TX back in 2012. I'm a US Marine Veteran, and former Special Agent (with a few jobs in between). I also have a BS degree in Finance along with an MBA. It's now 2022 and I have rarely checked this site. It's a great site, but sorry for all those email messages I got 2, 3, 6 yrs ago ;) I did finally reply to them. A few hundred deals later (mostly wholesaling, but also some rehabbing, wholetailing, and my favorite owner finance wraps) brings a much broader perspective. I was heavily involved as an investor client using whole life insurance from around 2015-ish (before it was mainstream cool in this space) and it's been a complete game changer. Some friends from ADPI (a veteran owned real estate investment group focused on active duty and veterans... full name is Active Duty Passive Income) asked me to help create an insurance arm doing "what I do". After almost saying no, I ended up going ahead and getting my license to serve their community and anyone else I can help - but I'm not your typical agent. I'll only write for someone if I can fully explain it to them and show them how and why we smoke our competitors. There are a lot of shenanigans out there, but I really, really enjoy jumping on podcasts and talking about this strategy. I only do these optimized policies and ONLY write for anyone else what I would write for myself or my family. Since I was already having hour long conversations with people explaining how this works before I was an agent, now I'm just doing it in a directed way while I'm still an investor. It's not too late to protect your nest egg while being able to use it at the same time! Real estate and some of these other strategies are so important now as we trudge through these uncertain times. I suggest everyone to take inventory of their foundational places they store their capital and find ways to use it without losing any of it! We need to invest to hedge inflation. There are lots of opportunities now and into the future! But really there are ALWAYS opportunities. I'm an investor in the Houston, TX area but we recently moved to beautiful SW / Central Virginia.
