My grandmother owned a real estate brokerage in Colorado and my mother is an executive title officer in New Mexico where I was born and raised. I was a C student that was in special education classes throughout middle school and high school but In 2010 I graduated Cum Laude from UNM with a BA in finance and entrepreneurial studies with a Minor in real estate. Right out of college I thought I could get financially free from tax deed investing. I quickly realized that there was a lot of un-fruitfull hours spent researching deals and the land that I acquired wasn't selling or cashflowing in 2011. I then found Bigger Pockets and just a few month after joining I decided to take a job as a market researcher and analyst with an assisted living investment company. I spent seven months in that role, attended secrets of successful syndication in Pheonix AZ and learned that if I wanted to help investors with deals that I needed direct management experience. I then became a property manager moved from coast to coast and eventually became the regional manager for a multi-tenant industrial investment firm based out of San Francisco. I have managed over a million square feet of property in Dallas, San Antonio, Houston, and Atlanta. I knew I needed to get onto the transaction side of things to grow my net worth so in September 2017 I became asset manager for a small family office that specializes in large (100+ units) C & B class multi-family in good neighborhoods. Each Berkeley property is owner-managed by a team of property and facilities managers. Not your average property managers: fair, service-oriented, on-site, responsive, and intelligent. Mr. Walker successfully leased and managed a 330,000 SF portfolio of multi-tenant industrial real estate in Dallas, Texas in 2014. He also monitored the construction process for capital projects and tenant improvements. Fostering and maintaining communication-based collaborative relationships with his 100+ entrepreneurial/ business tenants is his most-valued achievement. Such relationships are essential in adding significant value to Berkeley's business parks. After establishing himself as a top producer for Berkeley Properties, he was chosen to take over two assets in San Antonio in October 2014. In only eight months, he increased occupancy from 65% and 68% to 100% and 95%, respectively, while effectively managing CapEx projects and tenant relations. Such occupancy growth increased the annual revenues of the portfolio from $645,000 to $1,003,268 and led to the profitable sale of both assets. Following the success in San Antonio, Berkeley assigned Mr. Walker to take over two more properties in Houston, Texas. Proving his commitment yet again – in just seven months this time – he saw an increase in occupancy in one property from 76% to 100%. In regards to the second property, he was able to close eight new leases after a lull in activity (prior to his arrival) of seven straight months. He accomplished this work while commuting weekly to manage both Houston and San Antonio regions. In mid-November 2015 Mr. Walker was assigned to Berkeley's fastest growing market: Atlanta, Georgia.
