For the first 32 years of my life I followed the path that everyone is expected to follow. The path that you are not only taught at school and home but throughout society. Get good grades so you can obtain a degree that will give you high income and great benefits. How could I have gone so wrong? School teaches you how to become a great employee and nothing more. You work for someone else and make them wealthier. "Its safe, no risk, it pays the bills. Those benefits though!" They all said. Why was I never taught any financial literacy? Everything I have set my mind to I have achieved. I went through school to get my undergraduate in Microbiology and Immunology and then went on to get my Masters in Medical Science. I worked a full-time job without any freedom of when or where I'm working. A different way of life, a life of financial freedom was constantly on my mind. The drive to work, the 8 hour shift and the drive home my mind contemplated. Although I was profiting each month from my jobs wages (mostly due to me being smart with my money) It was the freedom I knew I needed. Real estate has proven to me its where I should be. I have started the steps in the right direction. I have paid off all my credit cards, developed emergency funds and saved a small amount of money for monthly expenses and to put toward future assets. I quit my full-time job and moved to weekends only. Just enough to support my monthly expenses and focus on real estate. I have chosen my niche on house flipping so I can build capital with a longer term goal of using the BRRR method and obtaining a steady cashflow to support my living. My current status is educating myself, creating a business plan and making relationships within the community. Soon to buy my first property. I am not looking to become a millionaire. Although with hard work and smart choices I don't think that is out of the question. I am simply looking to invest in enough assets and develop enough cash flow to outweigh my liabilities and expenses so I can have financial freedom.
