I'm interested in getting some user feedback on an important topic for me, as I think it will help us better shape BiggerPockets to fit YOUR needs. I'm hoping to learn more about what our users are taking away from the site and what is attracting them to stay with us.
Please do take a minute or two to answer the following:
In 1-2 sentences, why do you visit BiggerPockets.com?
Thanks, Josh :D

I visit BP Nation to network with other successful investors and service providers to build up my network of contacts and in hopes to make money for all parties involved. I also learn from reading other's posts as I am an experienced investor in many aspects but not "all knowing" and education/knowledge is power!
Thanks for BP Josh! :D

BTW - The goal of this thread is to get legitimate feedback from the membership in order to try to improve the offerings here on BP.

Seriously, BP has helped me establish a nationwide network of contacts in many different areas of RE investing. When I was writing my book I was able to get feedback and contributions from other BP members, many of whom are featured in the book. I have also learned a great deal about areas of RE investing that I haven't had a lot of experience in. BP has helped me get a lot of exposure through my contributions to the BP Blog, I never thought I'd be contacted by a US Senator as a result of an article I wrote for the BP Real Estate Dispatch. One thing that can't be discounted is the number of friends that I've made here in my 2+ years as a member.
I come to have my foot shoved into my mouth.
Serously, it is for the information contained in the heads of the other members who are willing to share.
The resources have also been very useful to me as well.
I am not sure what you feel the need to improve yet as I am not yet through digesting your current resources, or my feet yet.
I visit to learn and to give back. Right now my ratio of learn/give back is still pretty high. But I will give back more as I continue to take it to the street.
I enjoy the social networking aspect of BP - it's a good way to connect and stay in touch. Also, I like that this place is moderated - I get so much spam from some other sites, it gets a little annoying!
Thanks for putting the site together, Josh - it's great!
I visit to read and learn from more seasoned investors and hopefully enlighten a few less seasoned investors.
One thing I have noticed...when i send a message to different individuals on the site my response ratio is only about 50%. I was kind of surprised taht people would not take a few minutes to share knowledge with me. I have had some great responses, but it seems like a lot of people are just looking for deals and don't really want to be bothered.
A shock to me is spmeone who posts somethng and then I send them a PM or a response and don't hear back...for example...someone post that they have shortsales in Anytown USA...I request some info and they send me nothing.
It is not the end of the world, but I fugred they were posting to get responses and interested parties.
The knowledge and learning on hear is fantastic though!
Interesting observation. Are these fresh posts, or are they older? We can open this up for another topic, because I don't want to lose focus on the discussion here, but I'd be interested. That said, my guess is that most people have no idea how to participate on social networks. They think that by creating a profile, people will suddenly do business with them. They think that by posting a solicitation, you'll see business pour in, without bothering with any follow ups.
Until people get educated about the fact that social networking takes some work, you're going to see a large number of people who just can't get it right.
Thanks for the feedback everyone. Its great info you're giving me so far!
Now back to the regularly scheduled program . . .

I visit BP because I like to hear the "real life" stories of other investors. It's one thing to read something in a book and think that everything will go perfectly well, but it's another thing to hear that sometimes there are bumps in the road and sometimes tenants don't pay the rent when they should or a deal that works out in the book doesn't cash flow in real life because the book neglected to include certain things in the expense column.
Bottom line is that it is reassuring to hear that real estate investing is sometimes hard work and you need to keep educating yourself to stay ahead in the game. Thanks Josh for the great education!
I visit BP b/c it's the only site like it that keeps the standards high. The 'other' sites are not as active and don't have to many 'actual' investors.
I would like to know if any action is ever being done via the property listings?
I wonder if anyone is actually selling or buying b/c of it?
not to re-direct the original topic, just curious though thats all
I visit to LEARN! and get to know some very helpful people.(ie: Nick Johnson along with others) Alot of my questions have been posted already so all I have to do is search and read. This site helps keep me motivated.
I'm somewhat new in the game, so it is great to learn from other's mistakes and experiences before I make the mistake myself.
2) Motivation
I don't personally know anyone else that is into Real Estate investing. It is hard to stay focused when friends are blowing everything they make on shiny cars and big TV's when I am saving every penny I can.
I origionally came here to absorb the information and learn what others are doing. But, now I have gotten involved in some groups and discussions and have learned a great deal of information that I could not get from anywhere else. What started out to be just skimming the pages for informmation a couple minutes a day became what Richard said: "Visit??? I live here!" On another note, i find myself LMAO very frequently :goofy: thanks Josh and everyone who contributes to this great network.
I am on here daily, most days more than once! I can attribute 95% of what I have learned and accomplished so far solely to the great people on this site! Thanks everyone!
Great input so far folks . . . especially those of you who are here for the toilet humor, lol.
