I vote for Real Estate!

The past few weeks, it seems as if the political/off topic discussions have trumped the real estate discussion on this site. I log-in and see that the dashboard is filled with Palin or Obama topics, and then I log right off because I'd rather have active discussion on real estate or deal making. I can listen to fox news or cnn if I want to learn about politics.

Am I alone in this boat?

I vote that political talk and off-topic threads not be shown on the dashboard. If folks would like to discuss that, then they can visit that part of the forum.

I was actually thinking the same thing and am planning on making the off-topic and politics threads optional for the forum feed.

I hope we'll be able to have the change in place in the next day or so.

Justin, I second that vote. The political discussions are engaging, but they are also very distracting. I am very passionate about my political views, but I didn't join BP to read about and/or argue them. It's obvious people's views are not going to be swayed by a forum. I don't want these discussions banned; however, I agree they should be excluded from the dashboard.

Fox news IS the news! :rock:

I completely agree. It seems like I don't have much to contribute as of late b/c so much Obama this and Palin that, who's in left, where does the right start etc......

If politics weren't so 'Opinionated' I don't think I'd be to concerned but it seems like everytime a political discussion is started it always brings out the same people voicing the same 'opinions'

I concur. I hyperlinked the forums directly and haven't watched the dashboard in a while. Didn't know these were coming on there. Those forums need to be a place you can visit when you're in the mood to and leave when you want to and not have them in front of your face a lot.

I believe the Dashboard has three different sections available.

Forum recent discussions

Then from a dropdown menu under "forum" "My posts"
My discussions
recent discussions

Remove them form the first dashboard but not the last two, the same as your "group" discussions threads will only appear on the last two.

I think the majority of posters on any real estate board will prefer the FOX NEWS channel as do I . The Clinton News Network people and msnbc people are more oriented to the reports on " how wonderful socialism will be", and that is not what real estate people want to hear!!! imo. Rich.

Obviously it has been longer than a day or two, but we've got this thing up and running. We're knocking out a bug or two, but here's the deal:

Members can now hide from the Dashboard forum feed, the following forums:

- Off-Topic
- Political Talk
- All Marketplace Forums

We've set it so, by default, all of these are hidden.

To make it so you can see these forums in your dashboard's forum feed, just go to the DASHBOARD, then click on SETTINGS & PASSWORD, then click on the Dashboard tab.

We have not changed the recent posts tab of the forums themselves, but at least members can decide whether or not they want to see this stuff in the dashboard.
