From Caribbean Beginnings to Real Estate Success

The Journey of Bernadeau Charles

In a captivating interview, Dave Dubeau welcomes Bernadeau Charles, a real estate investor, to share his inspiring journey from growing up on a small Caribbean Island, Haiti to becoming a prominent player in the real estate market in Orlando, Florida. Bernadeau Charles's story is a testament to the possibilities that arise when one decides to take control of their financial destiny.

A Caribbean Start

Born and raised in Haiti, Bernadeau Charles had a modest beginning. He followed the traditional path of education and secured an engineering degree, eventually working for the Air Force in Oklahoma. Although his job seemed promising, he soon realized that it wasn't his true calling. Bernadeau's life took an unexpected turn when he experienced a car accident that changed his perspective. He understood that his high car payments and rent were consuming most of his income, despite having a well-paying job.

A Leap into Real Estate

After the wake-up call from the car accident, Bernadeau embarked on a journey of self-discovery. He delved into books, podcasts, meetups, and conferences. Real estate caught his eye, and he started with a small single-family property—a three-bedroom, one-bath house with a big backyard in Brevard County, Fl. This investment provided him with a taste of the financial freedom he craved.

The Beginnings of a Portfolio

Bernadeau Charles didn't stop at one property. He became addicted to the cash flow generated by his investments. He kept buying more properties, which eventually grew into an 11-door small multifamily portfolio. His rental properties are scattered across Florida, including locations in Central and North Florida. Impressively, he managed all these properties himself.

Venturing into Syndications

Bernadeau was not content with just managing his own properties. His thirst for financial success led him to explore syndications. He began learning about syndications and was introduced to a 45-unit deal by someone he met through a real estate meetup that he started. This allowed him to invest passively and gain invaluable insights into the world of syndication.

The Long-Term Game

Bernadeau is well aware that syndications are not a quick path to wealth. The share of the pie is relatively small and takes years to materialize. To supplement his syndication endeavors, he continues to acquire smaller multifamily properties. His goal is to amass a portfolio of 20 or more doors in the next two years.

Building Personal Wealth

While he believes in the power of syndications, Bernadeau also realizes the potential of self-financed properties. He may explore joint venture partnerships to expedite his personal portfolio growth. By sharing the ownership and investing with others, he can exponentially increase his real estate holdings while minimizing his financial commitment.

Bernadeau Charles's journey from the Caribbean to Orlando is a testament to the power of determination and self-discovery. As he continues to build his personal real estate portfolio, he also delves into the intricate world of syndications. His story is an inspiration for anyone looking to take control of their financial future through real estate investments.
