Hello, I am currently in Atlanta GA and moving back to Lansing MI this spring. In the crazy market I am seeking my realtors license in MI to have a competitive advantage for my investor needs. I am not looking for a full time job but seeking an investor-friendly brokerage to house my license. Any suggestions?

Hey Chad, welcome back to Lansing.
I'm not aware of any particular brokerage that is KNOWN for being "investor friendly", but each brokerage usually has an agent or two who is well versed in investments. I'll stay fairly neutral here and suggest you search for investment properties online (Active and Sold) and keep a tally of which agents are buying/selling the most investment properties and see if you can't interview with them when you get in town.

@Chad Keilen There are definitely agents in the area who are way more involved in this than I am, but I've helped clients close on five investment properties in the last year and am continuing to learn and move in that direction everyday. Hey Chad I can chime in here as well. There are a lot of different brokerages in Lansing and each have their own pros and cons. I myself work at Keller Williams currently. I wanted a larger brokerage with more opportunities to network with other agents who might bring me leads. Also agent commissions is a large portion of my income currently so I wanted a reputable company that could support me as I grow my team. Larger brokerages however have larger fees that agents pay. If you are not looking to do a lot of volume, don't care about brand and don't want training, offices or bells and whistles, I would look at some of the smaller brokerages. Come to our RE coffee which we host every month or our monthly evening meetups (that last Thursday of every month, look up Lansing Real Estate Meetup on facebook to join our group along with 1500 other members). At both meetings you can talk to myself and other agents who are already doing what you want to do and see where the best fit might be for you.
