Can anyone share their experiences with hiring a real estate coach?

Thoughts?

When new to the real estate industry and considering whether someone should invest in hiring a real estate coach. I've heard mixed opinions on whether it's worth it for beginners. Can anyone share their experiences with hiring a real estate coach? Has it significantly contributed to your success in the field, or do you believe it's possible to succeed without one?

In my opinion and experience, with all the free resources online, there is no need for a coach if you are just starting out. You are better off hiring a coach when you are in a position where you understand what your weaknesses are and you need to tackle those to be able to scale your operation.

It depends on you. If you want to skip to the head of the class and save a year or two and possibly keep from losing capital and missing opportunities, you go with a coach that does what you want to do. We’re interested in “off market” deals for instance. Your coach should preferably be teaching "one on one" or you get lost in the crowd.

However, if you have lots of time and like research and aren't particularly concerned about capital return, you hit the books and everything is there.

I think it depends on you.  Do you need a kick to get going every day or do you jump out of bed and get busy.   Are you coachable.   I think 80-90% of new agents can be told what to do, but then they don't do it and they fail.   So are you going to do what your coach tells you to do?   If I tell you to call 100 FSBOs today, are you going to call them, or are you going to figure out some other way that is your way...text them, email them, send them a post card, when I told you to call them.

All the NFL players I know (not that many) know a ton about football and fitness, but all have coaches, trainers, nutritionists.  Tiger Woods has a coach.  At one time Michael Dell had a coach.  Even elite performers can have a coach.

There are plenty of people that probably don't have a coach.   Good thing is, you might can find one in your brokerage that you can pay at closing.  You can probably try it for a while and see if it works for you.  If it doesnt you can switch or cancel.

For starting out no. As David said there is way too much free info out there. You can start/scale a business. Once you hit a certain point then yes it's helpful but in the beginning I'd keep costs low
