My husband and I own a home remodeling company in VA. We want to start flipping houses because we know we can make a decent profit by being the contractor. My question is should I get my real estate license? I do not want to be a full time agent, I just want to be able to buy and sell our own flips. Would the broker's fees and the liability of being the home owner/listing agent even be worth the sale commission? Are there even brokers out there that will take me on knowing that I just want to flip houses? Or should we just hire a realtor?

@Katie Le I am a property flipper who recently got her license (Colorado). It will cost me $6000-$10000 per year to keep up the license. So far this year I have been the listing agent on one of my properties and both the listing & sales agent on another. I have also accidentally picked up a few buyers along the way and have several houses under contract for them. So far it is worth it. I am with a Metro Broker office. The really big outfits probably aren't interested in you. Find a "one man show" and ask if you can join. They make a few extra dollars, have someone to cover their clients when they are on vacation, and you get the benefits.
