Looking For Mentor in New England to Start Flipping

Looking For Mentor in New England to Start Flipping

Investor · Boston, MA · Member since 2017 · 11 posts · 6 votes

Hi Everyone,

I’m hoping to find a mentor or even eventual partner to get in to flipping houses, ideally in the Metro West area. I am a licensed CPA and have a strong background in finance/tax/accounting as well as modeling and analysis. I’ve also had experience from the finance side with value add industrial projects, including lender draw packages and project tracking.

I own one duplex investment and have a full time W2 (corporate accounting) but I’d like to start flipping to generate additional income to put into future long term investments and possibly someday replace my W2.

I’d love to find a situation that I can use my existing strengths above to help out while having the opportunity to build on my weaknesses (deal finding, project costing/estimating, analyzing comps).

I’d love to hear your feedback or experiences working with a mentor in a similar capacity or if you are looking for a mentee/partner please let me know.

Thank you.

-Jacque

    Hi Jacque,

Great to meet you, and I really appreciate you sharing your background and goals — it sounds like you’ve built a strong foundation to transition into flipping successfully.

I operate throughout all of New England, which gives me a wide range of options and flexibility across different markets and property types. I hold both the Certified Property Manager (CPM) and Accredited Commercial Manager (ACoM) designations, and I’m also a licensed Home Inspector in Massachusetts and New Hampshire.

I also own and operate a property management company and am currently in the process of building an umbrella brand that will bring together my asset and property management company, construction/development division, and future brokerage under one unified brand. My goal is to be a one-stop resource for clients, because I truly believe in building lasting relationships—both professional and personal—that allow people to grow successfully without the stress of jumping between unaligned or unethical professionals.

I’ve built everything from the ground up and know firsthand the sacrifices and rewards that come with starting from nothing. That experience drives my passion for helping others achieve success with integrity and reliability.

Between my background and network—which includes my father’s commercial construction company and a trusted team of professionals across every aspect of real estate and property operations (construction, development, HVAC, plumbing, electrical, painting, paving, framing, finish work, landscaping, trucking, and more)—and your strong financial and analytical expertise, I think there could be real synergy.

I’d be happy to connect further to explore whether there’s an opportunity for collaboration or mentorship that aligns with both our goals.

    Best regards,
    Christian Welch

Hey Jacque — sounds like you’ve built a great foundation between your CPA background and the duplex experience. That finance/lender-side knowledge will definitely give you an edge once you start flipping.

If you haven’t already, you might check out some local BP meetups or the Massachusetts subforum — there are quite a few active investors and small groups in the Metro West area who collaborate on flips and lend experience to folks getting started.

When I started working with other W2 professionals who were scaling from 1–3 doors into more active projects like flips, one of the biggest takeaways was how much of the process can be systematized once you find the right partners and funding structure. Happy to share what’s worked for us if you want to connect offline.
