Hello everyone, I hope you are doing well.
I am Canadian residing in Dubai. I am looking for someone who can help me invest in US.
I am looking for trustworthy relationship, win-win deals, and long-term collaborations.
I am open in terms of what type of investment. I like house hacks, smart investment, multi-family, among others.
If you also know someone who has experience in dealing with US-based investments while dealing with investors from outside USA. Please let me know. Thank you so much for your help
As far as buying in the US...I used to work with internationals buying here...the key thing is to make sure you are properly structured. As an international, you have to set up a US entity and a US bank account before you buy anything to ensure you are set up properly for taxes and all that jazz. I'd highly recommend working with a specialist who focuses on these kinds of setups...especially if you are Canadian. I assume the structuring would need to be based off your Canadian citizenship versus living in Dubai, and if that's the case, it's not an LLC that you need like it is for most international citizens. The LLCs actually mess up Canadians for this kind of thing. So you want to make sure you are set up correctly. Otherwise, the tax hits and such can get nasty. Once all of that is set up once though, you're good to buy.
As far as the investments, it really just depends on your goals and risk tolerance. House-hacking really won't work if you don't live in the US, because to house-hack you would be living in one of the units. Plus as a Canadian, you won't qualify for a US mortgage (FHA) which is why a lot of people do it in the first place. If you were buying a house for yourself in the US somewhere and wanted to make it a house-hack to bring in some extra income, then that's fine, but doesn't sound like you are moving here.
Not sure what smart investment means. You mean, just a smart investment? Or is that a particular kind of investment?
The key for you, and any long-distance investor, is the team you have in place here. Bad team = you're screwed. So the trickiest part is figuring that part of it out. Good team though = good deal!
