Dear investors,

I’m looking to rent out my property soon and currently planning to get a rental property insurance for landlord.

Any recommendations would be much appreciated.
Thank you,

Ling

Hi Ling! Ask your real estate agent to refer an insurance agent to you. They’ll be able to help you find a policy that works best for you.

    Ling,

Generally, a 1-4 family dwelling, that is not owner occupied, would be covered under a Dwelling Fire policy (some companies call it a Landlord policy).  If the property is 4+ units or has a commercial exposure the coverage would normally be under a Business Owners (BOP) or Package policy.

You should seek our Independent agents (they represent many companies) that write in the state the property is located.  Have them run quotes for you and make recommendations of coverage.

Some sources to find those agents:

    1. Trade Associations: PIA (Professional Insurance Agents) or IIA (Independent Insurance agents)

    2. Local Real Estate investors Assocations

    3. Your CPA, Attorney or Realtor
