Converting my STR to LTR. What is the consensus on security cameras?

Hello,

I am converting my STR into a LTR and wanted to know what is the proper etiquette when it comes to exterior security cameras for LTR. Should they stay under my own surveillance or should I remove them?

This is a SFH. Thanks.

Personally, if it’s a long-term rental, I’d either remove the cameras or transfer control to the tenant. Most LTR tenants expect the property to feel like their home, not a property being actively monitored by the owner. Exterior cameras aimed at common entry points can be legal in many areas, but transparency is key, and local laws matter. From a landlord-tenant relationship standpoint, I’ve found tenants are much more comfortable when they control the cameras themselves or know they’re not being monitored by the landlord day to day.
