Is a Landlord required to provide appliances?

Does anyone know whether a landlord is required to provide appliances - especially in charlotte, NC. I can't find anything in the law, but I wonder whether it might be required under the local building code.

As far as I know landlords are not required to provide appliances. However most tenants I've encountered don't own big ticket things like refrigerators and stoves. Plasma TV's are much more important to them.

You should be able to access the local building codes online. If you're going to be a landlord it's almost required to know the local codes.

For quicker reference just call the code enforcment office.
