I own 1 unit in a 6 units building in Union City, NJ. A "simple" question but get different answers from rent control office and property management company: is my unit under rent control? I have read Chapter 334 - Rent stabilization but it doesn't help.
I called rent control office in the city, the answer is "No", but a "Yes" from the building management company.
Does anyone have any insight on this?

I am a property manager in Hudson County. It is my understanding that in Union City, if an individual owns less than 3 condos in the same building, then they are not subject to rent control.

No, it's not under RC unless you purchased it with a RC tenant in place.
