Right now you cant evict a tenant . BUT why cant you sue them for the monies owed in civil court ? This way you get a judgement and it accrues interest . Then you have the means to garnish wages , go after assets , and get a jump ahead . Sue for back rent .
That is a good point. I wonder what the legality around it would be, or if there is anything in the executive orders preventing it. Have you already tried this or have had some success with getting a judgement on tenants in civil court?
The way I understand it is that you cant evict (kick them out) . They will owe you the money and in my state you cant charge late fees . But my theory is if you take them to court just for the monies owed ,you win and get a judgement and interest is applied to a judgement .
I have gotten judgements in the past and collected thru wage garnishment . (pissed off the ex tenant )
I didnt see anything in the orders about debts owed not being on hold . You still need to pay your credit card bills
