RV ownership was already at a record level before the pandemic. But new RV campers increased at a stunning rate of 5x between 2019 and 2020. And, RV camping got a boost from the emerging AirBnb-style sharing model, which turns every RV into a potential revenue machine. There are about 11 million US RV households today, but surveys say that 9 million more Americans want to buy an RV in the next 5 years.
But hold on. Pandemics are temporary phenomena. Not something to count on for solid long-term investments, right? The remote working revolution has added massive fuel to the demand for RVs and RV parks. WIth up to 30% of workdays now performed outside of offices, this looks like a permanent trend.
How can you get involved as an investor? There are over 8,000 privately owned US RV parks. The vast majority are owned by mom-and-pops, and most have significant upside for investors.
