Join us in Santa Cruz for the next quarterly real estate social meetup of 2015! We'll talk about some of the local and out of area deals that people have been doing. The last event circled around the nuance of apartment loans, oh lord bed bugs!, the pros and cons of section 8 and using wholesalers. We also wandered through a lot of classy drinks.
I have not picked a venue yet so if anyone has a preference, I'm listening!
When: Friday, September 19, 2015, 7:00pm
Where: TBD
Please support the local business by spending some money and tipping for the great service we receive! They have both food and nice drinks. I usually pick the outdoors this time of year, so bring a jacket for after the sun sets (although September is usually warm as long as we are above the fog).
Remember, Friday evening traffic can get a touch thick so give yourself some time. I'll hang there till it ends (about 10pm - 2am depending on how conversation flows).
Can't wait to see you all, reply if you want to come.

Shane,
I believe there's a typo in the body of the post about it's on September 19th. However, September 11th is on a Friday so that has to be the right date.
September 11th is a very special day for me. That was the last day of my W-2 job 6 years ago. I remember driving home that afternoon. I was excited that the W-2 job burden is off of me. At the same time, I was scared about the what ifs. What if I don't make it in real estate? As much as I was confident that I would do well in real estate, giving up a low six figure income in 2009 was out right scary. The sky was falling. Everyone was getting laid off, and here's a dream chaser quitting his job. Some family members said I was crazy. Others shook their head in disbelief. Although I don't really know how my wife was feeling at the time, she was supportive on the outside.
By early December, wife's company announced that they were relocating to El Segundo. Just like that, wife's last day at her job was New Years's eve 2009. She was 7 months pregnant at that time so we went on Cobra for our health insurance. Talking about life is like a box of chocolate... :0)
In hindsight, it was the best decision for us financially so was it for some of our siblings and friends. I can proudly say I have replaced/exceeded my W-2's salary with my passive income. It can only get better from here as whole bunch of my rentals are still $300-$700 below fair market rents. There were some bitter sweet moments along the way, but the result was well worth it. It's great that I'll be celebrating it with a whole bunch of real estate investors. @J. Martin, let me know if you want me to be your limousine driver. @Johnson H., I can drive you too bro. They have a great group of people in Santa Cruz.
Cheers.
