I am relatively new to Bigger Pockets and enjoy the variety of information and expertise that I have experienced here. I am very interested in organizing a Chicago area meet up with like minded individuals in this area. I wanted to test the waters and find out if there would be anyone interested in participating.

I actually sent out an email to all of those that said that they had an interest in a meetup and did not get a great response. Caroline gratuitously offered to help me in which I am very appreciative. I hope that we get a better response this go around. The first meeting I attempted to set up had only 3 show up not including me. I am willing to organize for the benefit of the group but it would be nice to have those that said the had an interest actually show up.

George, after that initial email exchange that you and I had, I do not believe I received another email that detailed a meeting. I think we have interest here to get a decent conversation going. Were you looking for a certain critical mass of people?

i'd be interested in meeting up too. i've been to several of the local groups, and they all were a giant waste of time and money....you have to pay to get in, and you hear a teaser from some person from out of state trying to sell you an overpriced, out of date system. trust me, don't waste your time. the people who start these groups are mainly interested in filling their own pockets, not helping the members.
Then you haven't been to all the local clubs. I would be remiss if I let you lump them all together. There is one that was founded because they believed that paying to enter then be sold to is like paying for Cable TV and all you get is infomercials and QVC.
In fact, the presenters are strictly prohibited from selling. So I suggest you check the list that Bigger Pockets has for Clubs in Illinois and attend them both. You will find the one.
