Does anyone know of a good REI club in SF? I've searched everywhere (REI Club, meetups etc..) and have only found clubs in the south, east, and north bay. I am a new investor with $30-$40k to invest and would like to get started soon. I do not have a car so it is tough for me to get to these places. However, if you do know a good club in the south, east, or north bay i'd love to hear them because I will happily attend them. Thanks guys and looking forward to hopefully meeting you at these clubs!

Thanks for sending those over. I am interested in 1-4 unit residential fix and hold properties. I almost closed on a cash flow property in the Quad Cities and decided that it wasn't the right market or landlording for me.
Great website btw! Open to hearing more about what you do or any suggestions/recommendations you have for me.

Sometimes the deals you pass up on are the best "deals" you do. A bad deal that sucks your cash-flow dry is a major source of stress. I bought a 40-unit apartment building once and that's how the first month started out for me. Talk about sleepless nights!
I know you can find better deals than a lot of the stuff in the quad cities area. I see them every day.
If you're looking to fix and hold, you may want to focus on a 1 hour radius around you for the sake of being able to manage the rehab and your contractors. Rehabbing brings on many risks that are easier to deal with if you're "hands on". That's also the reason many investors choose to buy turnkey properties.
The amount of capital you're working with will also play into the market you choose since it will be difficult to acquire and rehab property if you're under-capitalized. Hard money would be something you should look into to help you finance your project.
Carefully research the markets around you to see if they make sense, fit in your investment strategy, and can be financed with your current capital.

Marco Santarelli Thanks for the suggestions. Luckily, my dad is an architect with a solid rehab team in place. He'll be able to oversee the work. Now i just need to find the right deal.
Minh L. Hey Minh. Thanks for the recommendations. I'lll look into them. However, I think in the beginning i'm looking for free meetings to go to.
Nicholas Spohn Hey Nicholas, I actually think the market is a very steady market with an improving economy and some great deals. It wasn't the landlording i'm looking for though (even with a pm). A lot of the deals I looked at were with tenants that i'd rather stay away from. I chose to use more money in another market to fix and hold and rent to a suitable tenant. I am also looking for a market where I can get greater equity growth over the years. I didn't see it there but could be wrong and would love to talk more if you're still investing there. Shoot me a pm if you wanna chat. I work with a buddy that is rapidly building a sizeable portfolio there and it might be a good mutually beneficial relationship.

Bump! I'm also interested in checking out a REI club in SF. Like OP, no car, and would like to check out a meeting that's free before having to fork out membership fees. Would love to find something in SF proper, rather than East/South Bay.
If you're looking in the East Bay, we're in the midst of launching a club based in Berkeley that will most likely meet bi-monthly on Wednesdays. I'll post more details here as soon as I have them.
@Sarah Lam - The only one I know if in SF proper is BAIES. I'm not sure if they have a website. From this listing it looks like they meet the 1st Tuesday of the month at the Hyatt Regency Embarcadero.

@Andy Kaufman I would love to hear more about your East Bay REI club once it's up. Please keep us posted. Does anybody else know of any good groups in the Walnut Creek, Concord, Alamo or Orinda areas?

@James Zachary - Will do. We're working on getting the next one scheduled right now. Looking like it will be either October 16th or the 23rd in Berkeley.
I live in Richmond and invest in the East Bay, and am interested in meeting up with some more investors in the East Bay. Any info/date/times appreciated.
