I used to have a bunch of oil heated houses, or propane heated house, also derived from petroleum . The key words are "USED TO". My experiece has been neither buyers nor tenants like oil/propane heat. The market for these product fluxuates every day, just like gasoline at the pump. Generally oil prices were cheaper in the "off season" of summer because people were not heating during that season. Well that logic was blown away this year as home heating oil prices rose over the summer. so much for a rule of thumb. Kerosene is no better.

Our number one preferance for heat is natural gas, where available followed by electric heat pump/mini-splits.
