Appraiser to help fight property tax Assessment
Does anyone know of an independent appraiser that can help refute a property tax appraiser? I bought my home in Aug-25 for $2.5M. The town just went through a revaluation (as of Oct-25) and assessed it at exactly what I paid for it. There are no comps that support that valuation, despite what I paid. The surrounding homes and transaction comps suggest a value closer to $1.7M. Unfortunately, the local appraisers that I've spoken with refuse to take the case because the town's appraisal aligns with what I paid. My argument is that I purchased the home under duress and just need a party that's willing to come up with a true appraisal based on transaction and neighborhood comps.
