Who pays to move furniture?

I need to repair the flooring in one of my apartments, who generally pays for the furniture to be moved? They have some very heavy bookshelves and China cabinet in the room that needs repair. Is that generally considered part of the cost of repairing the floor?

If they have to move it, so you can repair something that must be done (ie can't wait til it is vacant), then you should pay.  Shouldn't cost much as the tenants would need to empty them and then you can hire some people to move them into another room.  This assumes that the tenant didn't cause the damages which need to repaired.

Thanks. Tenant did not cause the damage.  Unfortunately it was installed incorrectly.

It’s not unusual for the repair company to move furniture to another room. It’s normally included in the estimate.  Depending on the circumstances, the person or company who did the installation normally covers expenses or files a claim through their insurance.

The landlord would typically pay for any moving fees in this situation. However, like @Krisitna L. mentioned, sometimes the repair person will just move the furniture. I would definitely check with them first though, and definitely have the tenants remove anything from the bookshelves/cabinets beforehand!
