Demo Time - It's A Cold One Out There!

Funny thing when you don't have any power to the property yet... It feels like an icebox in the house!

Today the temps were in the 30's, but the windchill made it feel more like the teens! We haven't been able to get the power turned on because the electric company requires us to do an electrical inspection on the property when the power has been turned off for longer than 6 months. In our case, this property has had no power since 2015! So needless to say, we needed to follow the requirements. The electrical inspection has been completed, just waiting on the town to come out and turn on the power so that we can at least get some space heaters inside to keep everyone a little warmer than they are right now! The good news is that temps are going to be getting up into the mid 40's and low 50's for the weekend. That is like spring with the temps we have been experiencing!

Okay enough about the weather, this is New England in the winter after all!

One of my favorite parts of rehabbing a house is the Demo work! Ripping out out cabinets and counters, knocking down walls to open up space, and removing hideous wall decorations is a great way to let out some stress!

below are some pictures of our handy work that we wanted to share:

We had to remove the deck since it wasn't up to code and we needed to access the electrical feeds into the property

We are opening up access to the kitchen to make the layout more attractive

We gutted the kitchen and are starting fresh!

Removed everything but the tub from the full bath

Removed baseboard and some carpeting from bedrooms to expose the hardwood floors.

We are removing paneling and the furnace from the basement.

Going to need a new dumpster soon with all of this demo going on!
