Building Plans and Multi Family Rehab

This is the third project that we’ve had to hire an architect to draw plans for the city and pull a full set of permits for every trade.

I normally try and stay away from projects that require this much involvement from city inspectors, but sometimes there is no getting around it.

🔨 Here are a few tips for hiring an architect on your next major renovation

  • - hire an architect that is familiar with the municipality that you are working in every city is different so make sure they know the code for that particular city or county
  • - timing is key, make sure they are responsive to city comments and project timelines…(hint) if they don’t respond to you quickly, they won’t respond to the city quickly either.
  • - don’t be afraid to pick up the phone and ask them to explain whatever doesn’t make sense. That’s the only way to learn. There are no dumb questions even if it sounds dumb in your head.

More to come on our next episode of the “Real Estate Ride Along” with Chris Lopez and Bigger Pockets.
