4 Steps to Begin Building an Investor Network

I’m grateful that you are taking the time to read this daily journal on how to start raising private equity for apartment syndication deals. Building a network takes time, but investing with like minded people is an excellent reward.

I've heard it said that there are more people looking to invest in good deals than there are deals. We have a 122 unit C class property that is currently in need of new management and some renovations. We've put together a 5 year business plan designed to bring value to our investors. If you're interested in it just message me and I will forward you the presentation and underwriting.

Here are three things that I'm doing over the next 3 weeks to raise the last portion of the private capital.

1.  I searched for real estate investment groups and business groups in the Portland metro area and entered their events into my calendar. I've printed out our investor presentation and I'm attending events with it to network almost every night.

2. Become active on BiggerPockets. I've read that BiggerPockets is a great way to find people that are interested in apartment syndication investing and that people have raised a significant amount of capital simply by networking online. So I've completed my profile and started journaling my experiences over the next 3 weeks.

3. Proactively contacting apartments indicators that are interviewed in real estate podcasts. Here I'm seeking the advice of people who have done it and been there before me.

4. Lastly, I've updated are syndication groups website with the details of our latest project. This will be the destination spot for an upcoming webinar and if I can find a partner a real estate syndication podcast.
