How to Overcome Fear

Normal 1603838855 How To Overcome Fear

Click here to watch the How to Overcome Fear video

Probably one of the biggest things that new businesspeople face or especially new real estate investors face is FEAR.

And when I say fear, I mean the fear of failure, the fear of success, the fear of what other people think of you, the fear of rejection.

The fear of failure is obvious.

What that means is you went out and you spent a lot of time, you've made a big investment, you've spent a lot of money and you end up failing. And by failing, I mean not achieving the results you want, or worse, in the case of an investment, maybe you actually lost money, and then what happens is because of all that, people start talking negatively of you or people start looking down on you. People start judging you.

Yes, that happens, and it is going to happen. They say all successful people will fail over and over again. The way to success is a constant failure. You know, I've heard it said: “fail, fail often, fail fast. And that's the quickest way to success”.

Another fear is the fear of success.

What is the fear of success? Maybe you end up being so successful that you can't handle the workload. I know myself when we first started my rental owned business, I had so many deals that came on so fast. We literally grew to the point where it was just overwhelming and over-consuming and, and it just could not be managed. I was working 80-hour weeks at that time to try to deal with all the problems that were coming at me.

And yes, because we were growing so fast because we were having so much success, we ended up having a lot of problems. You know we got into properties we shouldn’t have gotten into; we put tenants in there that we shouldn't have put in; we had salespeople that were problems. we had property managers that were problems. The more moving parts that you have and the more deals you have, the more things that you're doing moving you towards your success goal, towards your success path, the more problems you're going to have, and the harder it is to deal with. So, there is a fear associated with success with growing faster.

The other fear might be a fear of rejection.

That's a big one for me and for a lot of people. And the only way you get past that fear is by doing what needs to be done over and over again.

Making those calls, talking to those people, making those offers. The more no’s you get, the closer you are to a “yes”.

Another fear is worried about what other people think about you and of being judged

People have egos. You want to just forget about all that. Forget about what other people think. You are your own person. You're doing what makes sense to you. When people talk down to you, they are trying to bring you down to their level. So, don't get worried about what other people think about you.

Those are just some of the fears that you need to overcome as a real estate investor. or really as a business person. moving forward in your pursuit of happiness, in your pursuit of success.
