The First Slice...
So....I am not a "blogger" per say. I don't know what makes a blog good, or makes people want to continue reading it; all I can promise is that I will do my best to keep you all interested, entertained and updated. So here's the situation: I don't have any money! What I mean is.....after receiving the very small amount of money that I get every couple of weeks...I pay bills, buy food, gas up the car...and I'm broke again. There are so many books and websites out there telling you how you can buy and sell real estate at ANY price with no money or credit. After many conversations with the "gurus" of real estate, I lost faith in the idea that I too could become and investor. "You need at least 20% in every deal....that's just the way it is today." That's what I was told over and over....but wait....didn't they say no money or credit? Isn't 20% money?
Six months ago I gave up dreaming and became so overcome with depression that I didn't leave my house for days at a time. I didn't know what to do, I didn't know how to feel. The worst part was, I didn't know how I was going to take care of my family. The idea of applying for welfare depressed me even more....something needed to change!
THE CHANGE:
Thanks to a PBS show, I was able to understand how my thoughts and emotions affected my physical being, my spirit and ultimately the course of my life. I credit Dr. Wayne Dyer for inspiring a change in me that I didn't think was possible. After viewing this show, I immediately changed my tune. I got off of the couch, stopped sulking and began to search for quotes and affirmations; anything to keep me in the right state of mind. That's when I came across the inspiration for the title of my blog: "When life gives you lemons.....make grape juice and watch the world wonder how you did it." It was the best quote I've ever read and came at the perfect time. I started to think of all of the "lemons" in my life: my family, my friends....even myself. If I can just find a way to "make good" of all of the negativity surrounding me, I will survive!
Since watching that show and reading that quote, things have been coming together (very mysteriously I might add). I have found a way around the 20% problem and even joined a community of investors that will help guide me in the right direction. Now for the hard part....staying focused, staying positive and staying in the game long enough to reap the benefits of my sacrifices. That's all I have for tonight, it's passed midnight and progress needs to be made tomorrow.
Goodnight all....stay positive!
-Tam
