Weird questions

During one of the showings, the couple was asking rather weird questions:

- How long did the previous tenant live here? - Was that last tenant evicted ? - When did they move out?

Can't help but wonder - why these questions? Why not ask about community amenities?

Any ideas?

  1. Thanks Charles

  2. I don't believe that I have ever questions like these. It does sound like the potential tenants wanted to know why the last tenant left. Perhaps a little about what kind of landlord you ight be.

  3. Jon - that's what I thought, but I didn't want to steer the conversation. Thanks for your input!

  4. Perhaps they were interested in how you as a landlord deal with tenants (or problem tenants). If I were renting, I'd be interested in talking to other tenants, especially ones that lived in the unit I was about to rent.

  5. Could be, but this was the first-time rental (never rented before)...

  6. These questions are certainly odd. Maybe they weren't interested in the apartment, but knew the prior tenant and were looking for personal information - info which you didn't give to them . . . right?
